AI and Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts that use AI tools are REQUIRED to have a “Declaration of AI Use” section within the manuscript that outlines the following:
- What AI tool was used? (Provide the name and link to the tool if applicable)
- Why was this AI tool used?
- How was the AI tool used? What instructions and/or tasks were given to the AI?
Undeclared AI use may result in a rejection of a manuscript upon submission, during peer review, revisions, and/or post-acceptance.
JCHIMP will review all use of AI technology. The Editor-in-Chief will determine whether the use of AI was reasonable and consistent with JCHIMPs policies and will approve of the use of AI in manuscripts.
AI and Authorship
JCHIMP does not recognize AI as an author. Any AI tool used must be declared in the “Declaration of AI Use” section.
AI and Peer Review
JCHIMP does not encourage peer reviewers to utilize AI on unpublished manuscripts. AI should not replace the reviewers’ experience and expertise in their respective fields.
If a peer reviewer uses AI tools for word processing and/or language editing, they must declare which tool was used in their peer review report.
To protect the confidentiality of the peer review process, reviewers should not upload unpublished manuscripts to public AI tools as confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.
As AI technology continues to develop, we will update this policy as necessary.
